2018 Tootsie Roll Drive
Recently, Knight of Columbus PJ Casey Council 2029, presented both Proworks and Meeker County Community Homes with checks for $719.87 each. The funds, including $144 donated to the Special Olympics, are the result of the annual "Drive for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities" held every spring. More commonly known as the"Tootsie Roll Drive", Knights and their families volunteer their time to collect free will donations and hand out Tootsie Rolls at various storefronts in Litchfield. The funds have been used in the past to enrich the lives of the clients the organizations serve, such as raised gardens, tablet computers, and day-trip excursions.
For every Tootsie Roll handed out, nearly $1.00 is collected! Free will donations are then distributed only to non-profit organizations that directly support the intellectually disabled.
The Knights of Columbus, Proworks, and MCCH would like to thank Wal-mart, Econofoods, and Litchfield Liquors for the yearly use of their storefronts, and especially the community, for their generous contributions.
